What does Erudical include?

Erudical offers an extensive, in-depth online teaching course specifically aimed at doctors and healthcare professionals all over the world to improve on the expensive and cumbersome in-person classroom courses.

You will be covering a full range of topics from core adult learning theory to the basis of objective setting and giving feedback on the practicalities of planning and delivering bedside teaching. Everything covered in a traditional teach-the-teacher course and more.

Of course, as teaching is inherently an interpersonal skill, part of the course will ask you to use the skills you are learning in real life and submit assignments in the form of either reports on a teaching session or feedback from your peers or students. There will also be a live 1 day online course available for you to attend if you wish.

How long does the course take?

We aimed to create an extensive, in-depth teaching course to be better than the traditional expensive classroom courses, that could be done in the comfort of your own pace and place of choice.

The live teach-the-teacher course runs for one full day from 9:00 – 17:00, during which you will cover all the essential skills you will need.

As for the self-paced course, the recommended time for completion is 12 hours, although the actual time taken will depend on how quickly you assimilate the information.

To successfully complete the course you will need to pass in-module and end of module quizzes, as well as a final test before we issue a certificate of completion. There will also be up to two assignments which will require you to use your new teaching skills in the workplace, evidenced with feedback or a report.

How much is the course?

The course is £149, which includes access to the full-day teach-the-teacher live course and all the supplemental online content, as well as full support from our team for the duration of the course and a certificate of completion. This is the cheapest and best value teach-the-teacher / train-the-trainer course available – most courses are in excess of £390.

How many points can I get for my application?

Claiming points for teaching is getting harder and harder. The self-paced course is over 12 hours in content, well over the average teaching time of a 2-day course. The live course covers one full day of teaching. As scoring criteria are constantly changing, it is always worth checking the most up-to-date scores for the speciality you are applying to.

How many CPD points do I get?

Our course is CPD certified, but as each professional body counts differently, we can’t answer that question for you. For example, the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) give 1 point for every 1 hour spent. So you have to find out how your points are logged, and then claim points based on that. So that means, you can get up to 12 points for the RCP!

When is the live course?

Dates for the live course are on both 17/11/2024 and 23/11/2024 (you only need to attend one). The course will be held via Gather.Town, an engaging interactive classroom that you can access from anywhere in the world!

Is the course accredited?

Yes! As of November 2020 the Erudical course is CPD accredited. Also remember that every person that completes the course will get a formal certificate of completion to allow them to claim points for their job application as well as add to their portfolio.

What if I can't finish the course?

The live medical online teaching course lasts 8 hours over the course of a single day. Meanwhile, the additional materials are designed to take 12 hours overall, which can be done in your own time. These materials are available for you to complete in 6 weeks after the time of purchase.

If at the end of this, you require more time to finish off certain modules, then an extension can be purchased on the website for a further 6 weeks of access.

Do I have to attend the live course or can I just do the online portion?

You get access to the live course with the online course, and attendance on the live course is not necessary to gain your certificate of completion. If you want to attend the live course, then get in touch with the admin after you enrol and log in. Remember to check your application scoring matrix – some applications require the live portion for you to claim the points.

What if the live course is after my application deadline?

If you claim for points in your application, then you must provide evidence of deserving those points at the interview. You will be issued a certificate once you’ve completed the course (either live or asynchronous online) that details your name, the course type and the enrollment date. You can see an example of the certificate here. The examiners on the day, of course, always have the final say.
