Two Courses and a Conference

With Erudical you get two Teach the Teacher courses, live and self-paced, plus your place at NMERC 2026, the national online medical education conference on 14 November. The £149 conference ticket is included, so the two courses cost just £50 more than the conference on its own.

Both courses and the conference for £199.

Self-Paced Course

Learn how to teach through bite-sized modules in our Self-Paced online Teaching course, available to take on in your own time.

Live Course

Our full-day Live online course will teach you all of the essential skills for teaching through in-depth tutorials and interactive group tasks.

NMERC 2026

Your place at the National Medical Education & Research Conference, online on 14 November. Present your own work to a national audience, or attend.

A teaching course scores 1 point for IMT. A national oral presentation scores up to 8 in the presentations domain for IMT 2027 (a poster up to 6). NMERC is where you give it. See how presentations are scored.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS THINK

Commonly Asked Questions

An online teach-the-teacher course built for doctors and other healthcare professionals. It comes in two formats, and enrolling gives you both: a self-paced online course of 20 modules and over 12 hours of content, and a full-day live online course running 9:00 to 17:00. Between them they cover everything a traditional classroom teach-the-teacher course covers — adult learning theory, objective setting, giving feedback, and planning and delivering bedside teaching — without the cost or the travel.

Doctors and healthcare professionals at any stage, anywhere in the world. Most people take it because they need teaching evidence for a specialty application or their portfolio, but it is just as useful if you already teach and want to be better at it.

The course is £199, which includes access to the full-day teach-the-teacher live course and all the supplemental online content, as well as full support from our team for the duration of the course and a certificate of completion. This is the cheapest and best value teach-the-teacher / train-the-trainer course available – most courses are in excess of £390.

The live course is a single day, 9:00 to 17:00. The self-paced course is over 12 hours of content across 20 modules, done in your own time — the actual time taken will depend on how quickly you assimilate the information. To complete the self-paced course you pass in-module and end-of-module quizzes and a final test, and submit three assignments that ask you to use your new teaching skills in the workplace, evidenced with feedback or a report.

No. Both cover the same content, and which format you complete is often determined by the specialty you are applying for or what you need for your portfolio. There are separate certificates for each.

You choose your live course date from the dropdown when you enrol at checkout. Upcoming dates and their availability are listed on the course page. If you need to move to a different date afterwards, message us and we will sort it.

NMERC 2026 is the National Medical Education & Research Conference, held online on Saturday 14 November. It is open to anyone in the country, which is what makes it a national conference for application scoring.

Yes, it is included. Every Erudical enrolment comes with a place, which costs £149 on its own, so the two courses cost £50 more than the conference alone. You can submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation (submitting is free; submissions close 31 October) or simply attend. Presenters receive an evidence letter by 16 November, attendees receive a CPD certificate for 6 hours, and there are prizes for the best presentations. More about NMERC 2026.

Entirely online. It runs 9:00 to 17:00 with expert-led tutorials, interactive segments and a group task, so you can attend from anywhere with no travel or accommodation to pay for.

Access is instant — you can start as soon as you enrol. The online materials are yours for 6 weeks from the time of purchase. If you need longer to finish off certain modules, a further 6 weeks can be bought as an extension. The modules work on desktop, tablet and mobile, and can be downloaded for offline study.

Yes. Erudical is accredited by The CPD Certification Service, provider 13684, and has been CPD accredited since November 2020. Everyone who completes the course receives a formal certificate of completion to support a job application or portfolio.

Up to 24 CPD hours in total: 12 for the self-paced course and 6 for the live day, both accredited by The CPD Certification Service (provider 13684), plus 6 for your included place at NMERC 2026, accredited separately by CPD England. Each Royal College logs points differently — the Royal College of Physicians, for example, awards 1 point per hour. Check your college’s scheme, and you will receive a formal certificate for your portfolio either way.

It depends on the specialty, and scoring criteria change every recruitment round, so always check the current self-assessment framework for the specialty you are applying to. As things stand:

  • Internal Medicine Training (IMT) — 1 for the course; a presentation at NMERC can add up to 8 in the presentations domain (IMT 2027). IMT requires a minimum of 6 hours of live, synchronous training, so the live day is the route to this one. Three points require a university-accredited PGCert.
  • Physician Higher Specialty Training (ST3) — 1 point.
  • Clinical Radiology ST1 — up to 2 points. Two points for training of at least two days, so the live day plus the self-paced course; either one alone scores 1.
  • Histopathology ST1 — up to 2 points, on the same basis.
  • Ophthalmology ST1 — 0.5 points for any recognised Teach the Teacher course.
  • Core Surgical Training CT1 — counts under Category D of the portfolio assessment.
  • Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthetics and ICM — not always directly points-scoring, so treat the course as portfolio and ARCP evidence and check your current person specification.

Our teaching points by specialty guide keeps this up to date, and the course is backed by our points guarantee: if your teaching point is not accepted, you get a full refund.

For IMT, presentations are scored in their own domain, separate from the 1 point for a teaching course:

National presentationIMT 2026IMT 2027
Oral6up to 8
Poster4up to 6

The IMT 2027 values come from the published summary of changes; the full 2027 scoring guidance is not yet published in full, so check it when it goes live. The presentation must already have been given when you apply, which is why NMERC runs on 14 November and evidence letters go out by 16 November. These figures apply to IMT only; ST3 and other specialties score presentations differently.

If you claim points in your application, you must provide evidence of deserving those points at the interview. You will be issued a certificate once you’ve completed the course, either live or asynchronous online, detailing your name, the course type and the enrolment date. You can see an example of the certificate here. The examiners on the day, of course, always have the final say.
