ARTICLE I

Submission and Review

Every abstract is scored against a published rubric and reviewed before a decision is issued. You will know inside five days of submitting — decisions are made on a rolling basis.

The rubric is published in full, so you can see what you are being marked against before you write a word.

Originality

Whether the work adds something that was not already known.

Method

Whether the design can support the conclusion drawn from it.

Clarity of Results

Whether a reader can tell what you found, and how confidently.

Relevance

Whether it matters to medical education or to clinical practice.

Oral presentation

Competitive, and selected on score. Slots in the lecture hall are limited and the highest-scoring abstracts take them.

Poster presentation

Acceptance depends on meeting the standard rather than on beating other submissions.

ARTICLE III

An Immersive Conference

NMERC runs in Gather Town. You move your own character through the space: into the lecture hall for the oral programme, along the rows of boards in the poster hall, out to the courtyard when you need a break. Conversation starts when you walk up to someone, the way it does at a real venue.

For IMT/ST Applicants

Recruitment guidance is explicit on two points. An achievement gained after the application closing date cannot be counted. And a presentation you have not yet given must not be claimed. The presentation has to have happened.

You can amend your application until the window closes. If you’re selected to present then you’ll be provided with suitable documents to evidence for your application.
