“This was a great, accessible and informative course. It had all the elements of a teaching course but for a lesser price, and the people who run this course are very supportive.”

Shina · FY2 · 2022

“I found this course incredibly useful, and I am really glad I have done it now. I will implement a lot of what I learnt into the course I run, which is the largest ophthalmology revision course in Western Hemisphere.”

M. Bizrah · Post CCT Fellow · 2020

“The course exceeded my expectations & has really made me re-evaluate how to plan and conduct teaching sessions in future. I've learned a huge amount!”

Genevieve · Paediatric SpR · 2022

“I certify that this course is one of the best I have ever taken. The knowledge and experience I gained from it are invaluable. I still remember a lot of its material contrary to most other courses. The flow of education is amazing!”

Aladdin · Senior Registrar · 2021

“You guys have done an excellent job. A good initiative which will help a lot of junior doctors and trainees further polish their teaching skills.”

Tom · Internal Medicine Trainee · 2020

“I liked the course and that you can space the material however you are comfortable. I really liked that we were given examples of teaching (e.g. venepuncture) at the start and end of some modules and how the learning material can be used/incorporated in them.”

Bogdan · FY3 · 2022

“I found it really useful to see how adult learning differed from child learning, especially with adults being more problem-oriented than subject-oriented which has helped me realise how to make sessions more engaging for adult learners.”

Aisha · FY1/2 · 2025

“It was well organised, the pace was good; the interactions were very helpful. I particularly enjoyed that Mahmoud helped us think of personal experiences (positive and negative) as part of the introduction before the in-depth teaching.”

Abigail · ST1-3 · 2026

“I highly recommend this online teaching course to anyone looking to enhance their teaching skills The course content was rich, up-to-date, and presented in a clear and concise manner.”

Commonly Asked Questions

What does the £199 include?

Three things, each with its own certificate.

1. The self-paced online course — 20 modules, over 12 hours of content, three assignments and a final test. Access is instant and yours for 6 weeks from purchase.

2. The live online day — a full day in our virtual classroom, 09:00 to 17:00, with 6 hours of expert-led teaching and group work. You choose your date from the dropdown at checkout.

3. Your place at NMERC 2026 — the National Medical Education & Research Conference, online. Worth £149 on its own, included free.

Do I have to do both?

No. The content is the same in both — it is simply presented differently. They are separate courses and each carries its own certificate, so complete the one you want the certificate for, or both if you want both.

Which one you need depends on the application. IMT asks for six hours of live, synchronous training, so the live day is the route to that point. The self-paced course is strong portfolio and ARCP evidence but will not, on its own, meet a requirement for live teaching. Check your specialty first.

How many points can I get for my application?

That is set by the recruitment office for your specialty rather than by us, and the criteria change every year. Training in teaching supports applications at CT1, ST1, ST3 and ST4.

We keep a table of every UK pathway checked against the current person specifications, and there is a points guarantee behind it: if your teaching point is not accepted, you get every penny back.

How many CPD points do I get?

Up to 24 CPD hours in total: 12 for the self-paced course and 6 for the live day, both accredited by The CPD Certification Service (Provider No. 13684), plus 6 for your free place at NMERC 2026, accredited separately by CPD England. Each professional body counts CPD differently — the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), for example, gives 1 point for every hour — so check how your college logs it and claim on that basis.

Is the course accredited?

Yes. The self-paced course and the live day are both accredited by The CPD Certification Service (Provider No. 13684), and each one gives you a formal certificate of completion for your portfolio and your application.

What if I can’t finish the online course in time?

You have 6 weeks from the time of purchase to complete the modules. If you need longer, an extension is £75 for a further 6 weeks, and there is no limit on how many you buy.

The live day is separate and unaffected. It is one day, 09:00 to 17:00, on the date you booked.

Do I have to attend the live course, or can I just do the online portion?

Either. They are two separate courses with two separate certificates, so do the one you want the certificate for. Attending the live day is not needed for the online course certificate, and finishing the modules is not needed for the live course certificate.

Check your application scoring matrix before you decide — some applications require live, synchronous teaching, in which case the live day is the one that counts. More answers in our Help section.
