Every doctor who completes an Erudical teach the teacher course gets a formal certificate. It is accredited by The CPD Certification Service (provider 13684), it carries a unique certificate number, and it never expires.
The live day is worth 6 CPD hours (a full day, 9am to 5pm, with 6 hours of teaching). The self-paced course is 12 CPD hours of content with its own certificate of completion. Every enrolment also includes a place at NMERC 2026, which carries 6 CPD hours of its own, accredited separately by CPD England, so you can log up to 24 CPD hours in total (12 + 6 + 6).
What your teach the teacher certificate shows
An interview panel or an educational supervisor asking “is this real?” should be able to answer the question from the document itself. Yours carries:
- Your name, exactly as you tell us you want it written
- The course title and what it consisted of — for the live day, one full day of live, interactive teaching delivered online (6 hours of teaching, 6 CPD hours)
- The course date
- 6 CPD hours for the live day, stated on the face of the certificate
- Accreditation by The CPD Certification Service, with our provider number, 13684
- A unique certificate number in the form ERU-LC-YYYYMMDD-NNNN
- The issue date
- A signature from the Education Director of Erudical Limited, and our company number

Your certificates: live, self-paced and combined
One Erudical account gives you access to both courses, and each one is certificated separately. Which one you submit depends on your specialty’s criterion — see the table further down this section.
| Self-paced course | Live course | |
|---|---|---|
| What it certifies | Completion of the online Teach the Teacher course | Attendance and completion of the full live teaching day |
| Length | 12 hours of study, stated on the certificate as 12 hours and 12 CPD hours | A full day, 9am to 5pm, with 6 hours of live teaching, in our virtual classroom |
| What you have to do | Pass the in-module and end-of-module quizzes, pass the final test, and submit three assignments | Attend the whole day and complete the short feedback form at the start and at the end |
| When it is issued | As soon as you have passed everything | By email after the course has run |
| Do you need the other one? | No — attending the live day is not required to earn this certificate | No — but you need to be enrolled on the course to attend |
You also collect a separate certificate for each sub-topic you finish in the self-paced course — small group teaching, adult learning theory, setting aims and objectives, and giving feedback among them. They are useful evidence in a portfolio even before you have finished the whole course.

A combined course certificate, on request
Once you have completed both the self-paced course and the live day, we can also issue a combined course certificate: one document covering both, with the self-paced hours (12) and the live teaching hours (6) stated separately — 18 hours in total. It is useful where a scorer measures training in days of study, or asks for a single piece of evidence per domain. Ask us for one when both are complete.

Which certificate to submit for your specialty
| Specialty | What the criterion asks for | Submit |
|---|---|---|
| IMT and Physician Higher Specialty Training (ST3) | 1 point for training in teaching with at least six hours of live, synchronous teaching | The live course certificate |
| Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care Medicine | 1 point for a teaching course | The live course certificate |
| Clinical Radiology ST1 | 2 points for training in teaching methods “after study of at least 2 days” | Both certificates merged into one PDF, or the combined course certificate (18 hours) |
| Histopathology ST1 | 2 points for training in teaching “lasting 3 or more days” — both parts together (18 hours, the equivalent of three 6-hour days); 1 point for brief training “lasting 2 days or less” — either part alone | The combined course certificate (18 hours) for 2 points |
| Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery ST1 | Up to 2 points; the live, tutor-led day lifts the score above online-only training | Both certificates, or the combined course certificate |
| Ophthalmology ST1 | 0.5 points for a recognised Teach the Teacher course | Either certificate |

How you get yours
Self-paced course
Work through the modules in your own time. The certificate of completion is released once you have passed the quizzes and the final test and submitted the three assignments, which ask you to use the skills in your own workplace and evidence them with a report or with feedback. It is issued automatically by the learning platform as soon as you finish.
Live course
Book onto a date, attend the full day, and complete both short feedback forms — the one at the start of the morning and the one at the end of the afternoon. Those two forms are also our attendance record, which is why we ask everyone to complete both. Certificates are emailed out after the course has run.
If something went wrong on the day and you could not complete a form, get in touch and we will sort it out.
Combined course certificate
Once you have finished both the self-paced course and a live day, ask us for the combined course certificate. Tell us the name to print and the date of your live course. We check both completions and email it to you: one document, 18 hours in total.
If you need something the standard certificate does not show
Some study leave panels, deanery forms and portfolio systems ask for detail the certificate does not carry as standard — hours broken down by session, confirmation on headed paper, your name written a particular way, or a reference a supervisor can file. Ask us and we will normally issue it, either as an amended certificate or as a short covering letter alongside it. What we will not do is put a course, a date or a number of hours on a certificate that does not match what you actually did.
Using your teach the teacher certificate in your application
How many points a teaching course earns depends entirely on your specialty’s scoring matrix, and the rules change between rounds. We keep a breakdown by specialty on the teaching points page, and the course is covered by our points guarantee. Many trusts will also fund the course from your study budget — there is a guide to claiming it, with template letters.
Whatever you claim, the examiners on the day have the final say, and you should expect to show the certificate as evidence at interview.
Common questions
Does the certificate expire?
No. There is no expiry date and no renewal fee. Some applications ask for teaching training completed within a certain window — that is a rule set by the application, not a limit on the certificate.
Is the course really CPD accredited?
Yes. Erudical is accredited by The CPD Certification Service as provider 13684, and has been since November 2020. The accreditation and the provider number are printed on the certificate, and the live day is certified at 6 CPD hours.
Do I have to attend the live day to get a certificate?
No. You get access to the live course with the online course, but attendance is not necessary to gain your certificate of completion for the self-paced course. Check your scoring matrix first, though — some applications require the live portion before you can claim the points.
What name will appear on it?
Whatever you tell us. We ask for the name you want on your certificate on the feedback form, and we use it exactly as you write it, including titles, hyphens and accents. If it has already been issued and the spelling is wrong, contact us and we will reissue it.
I have lost my certificate. Can I get another copy?
Yes, and there is no charge. Get in touch with your name and roughly when you took the course and we will send the PDF again.
Will an interview panel or my employer accept it?
The certificate names you, the course, the date, the CPD hours and the accrediting body. That is what a panel needs in order to accept a teaching course as evidence. Whether the course earns points in your particular application is a separate question, set by the scoring matrix for your specialty.
Can I get a printed copy?
The certificate is issued as a PDF so you can store it, upload it to your portfolio and print it yourself. It is set up for A4 landscape and prints cleanly on a home printer.
How do I add it to my portfolio?
Upload the PDF as evidence against your teaching or personal development entry, in whichever portfolio system you use. If your portfolio only takes images, print the PDF to an image or take a screenshot — the certificate number stays legible.
