Every doctor who completes an Erudical teach the teacher course gets a formal certificate. It is accredited by The CPD Certification Service (provider 13684), it carries a unique certificate number, and it never expires.

The live day is worth 8 CPD hours. The self-paced course is 12+ hours of content with its own certificate of completion.

What your teach the teacher certificate shows

An interview panel or an educational supervisor asking “is this real?” should be able to answer the question from the document itself. Yours carries:

  • Your name, exactly as you tell us you want it written
  • The course title and what it consisted of — for the live day, one full day of eight hours of live, interactive teaching delivered online
  • The course date
  • 8 CPD hours for the live day, stated on the face of the certificate
  • Accreditation by The CPD Certification Service, with our provider number, 13684
  • A unique certificate number in the form ERU-LC-YYYYMMDD-NNNN
  • The issue date
  • A signature from the Education Director of Erudical Limited, and our company number

Two certificates, one enrolment

One Erudical account gives you access to both courses, and each one is certificated separately. Most specialties will accept either; some ask specifically for a live or face-to-face component, so check your own scoring matrix before you decide what to do.

  Self-paced course Live course
What it certifies Completion of the online Teach the Teacher course Attendance and completion of the full live teaching day
Length 12+ hours of content across 20 modules 8 hours, 9am to 5pm, in our virtual classroom
What you have to do Pass the in-module and end-of-module quizzes, pass the final test, and submit three assignments Attend the whole day and complete the short feedback form at the start and at the end
When it is issued As soon as you have passed everything By email after the course has run
Do you need the other one? No — attending the live day is not required to earn this certificate No — but you need to be enrolled on the course to attend

You also collect a separate certificate for each sub-topic you finish in the self-paced course — small group teaching, adult learning theory, setting aims and objectives, and giving feedback among them. They are useful evidence in a portfolio even before you have finished the whole course.

How you get yours

Self-paced course

Work through the modules in your own time. The certificate of completion is released once you have passed the quizzes and the final test and submitted the three assignments, which ask you to use the skills in your own workplace and evidence them with a report or with feedback.

Live course

Book onto a date, attend the full day, and complete both short feedback forms — the one at the start of the morning and the one at the end of the afternoon. Those two forms are also our attendance record, which is why we ask everyone to complete both. Certificates are emailed out after the course has run.

If something went wrong on the day and you could not complete a form, get in touch and we will sort it out.

If you need something the standard certificate does not show

Some study leave panels, deanery forms and portfolio systems ask for detail the certificate does not carry as standard — hours broken down by session, confirmation on headed paper, your name written a particular way, or a reference a supervisor can file. Ask us and we will normally issue it, either as an amended certificate or as a short covering letter alongside it. What we will not do is put a course, a date or a number of hours on a certificate that does not match what you actually did.

Using your teach the teacher certificate in your application

How many points a teaching course earns depends entirely on your specialty’s scoring matrix, and the rules change between rounds. We keep a breakdown by specialty on the teaching points page, and the course is covered by our points guarantee. Many trusts will also fund the course from your study budget — there is a guide to claiming it, with template letters.

Whatever you claim, the examiners on the day have the final say, and you should expect to show the certificate as evidence at interview.

Common questions

Does the certificate expire?

No. There is no expiry date and no renewal fee. Some applications ask for teaching training completed within a certain window — that is a rule set by the application, not a limit on the certificate.

Is the course really CPD accredited?

Yes. Erudical is accredited by The CPD Certification Service as provider 13684, and has been since November 2020. The accreditation and the provider number are printed on the certificate, and the live day is certified at 8 CPD hours.

Do I have to attend the live day to get a certificate?

No. You get access to the live course with the online course, but attendance is not necessary to gain your certificate of completion for the self-paced course. Check your scoring matrix first, though — some applications require the live portion before you can claim the points.

What name will appear on it?

Whatever you tell us. We ask for the name you want on your certificate on the feedback form, and we use it exactly as you write it, including titles, hyphens and accents. If it has already been issued and the spelling is wrong, contact us and we will reissue it.

I have lost my certificate. Can I get another copy?

Yes, and there is no charge. Get in touch with your name and roughly when you took the course and we will send the PDF again.

Will an interview panel or my employer accept it?

The certificate names you, the course, the date, the CPD hours and the accrediting body. That is what a panel needs in order to accept a teaching course as evidence. Whether the course earns points in your particular application is a separate question, set by the scoring matrix for your specialty.

Can I get a printed copy?

The certificate is issued as a PDF so you can store it, upload it to your portfolio and print it yourself. It is set up for A4 landscape and prints cleanly on a home printer.

How do I add it to my portfolio?

Upload the PDF as evidence against your teaching or personal development entry, in whichever portfolio system you use. If your portfolio only takes images, print the PDF to an image or take a screenshot — the certificate number stays legible.
